Valaneervattaru Shri Adhikesava Perumal Temple: Purnima Pujas

Shri Adhikesava Perumal is located in Valaneervattaru, in the district of Kanyakumari, in the state of Tamil Nadu. The presiding deity is Adhikesavar and the mother Goddess is Bhudevi Sridevi.

The holy tree is Shenbaga tree and the holy water is Thiruvattaru of this particular temple. In the ancient puranamor literature named Purananooru, there is a mention regarding this temple located in south India.

It is to be highly noted that more than 10,000 devotees visit this temple during the days of Purnima and Amavasya. The important festivals of this temple are during Jan-Feb Sandal Abishekam, the 10 days Aarattu Festival held during October – November in each year and ‘Vaikunta Ekadasi Day’ in December-January. These social and religious events largely attract devotees from the nook and corner of Tamil Nadu.

According to the temple priest, in order to achieve happiness, satisfaction and health in life, a person should have the habit of giving donations on the days of purnima. It can be in the form of donation of cows(gaudaan), feeding to Brahmins, helping other by different means for preserving from unpleasantness and harm, giving ann and vastra daan to poor etc.

Devotes visit this temple during purnima days to seek happy marriage alliances, business development, get offsprings, longevity of life of family members, family prosperity, children’s education and good health and over all well being.
