Sri Veerabadraswami temple, Vibhutipuram in Bangalore: Purnima Puja

Sri Veerabadraswami temple is located in Vibhutipuram, in the district of Bangalore, in the state of Karnataka. It is about 500 years old. At present, the temple is managed and controlled by Srimad Vibhutipuram Veera Simhasana Samasthan Mutt.

The presiding deity is Veerabadrar and the Mother Goddess is Kalikambal. The important festivals celebrated in this temple in a grand manner are Shivrathri in February-March, Purnima, Amavasya and Tirukarthikai in November-December. It is to be highly noted that the temple is frequently visited by devotees from nook and corner of Karnataka plus from the neighboring states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Goa.

The temple is kept open from early morning to late night without any break daily. The Lord and Mother Goddess are attractively decorated on all auspicious and religiously important days. There is a shrine for Vinayaka at this place and is wholeheartedly praised as Lord Maha Ganapathy. On realizing the wishes and desires, the devotees immediately perform special abishek to Lord and Mother Goddess offer porridge (Payasam in Tamil) for nivedhana and with vastras.

It is to be noted that women folks offer vastras of yellow color to Mother Goddess and offer bangles and garland to Vilwa tree as a mark of respect with full devotion and dedication. The temple has religious and social significance in this region. Special pujas, rituals and homams are conducted in grand manner in this temple on all religiously important days and auspicious days according to Hindu religious calendar and as per Vedic practices.
