Sri Siddhi Vinayaka Temple, Pagalur, Krishnagari

Shri Siddhi Vinayaka temple is located in Pagalur, in the district of Krishnagiri, in the state of Tamil Nadu. The principal deity of this temple is Vinayaka. According to the local legends, this temple is nearly 500 years old.

The important festivals that are grandly celebrated in this temple are Thai Amavasya – new moon day in January-February, in the month of Chithirai (April-May) annual abishek festival on Moola star day and Poornima puja for Mother-Goddess.

The other important festivals of this temple are Margazhi Palliyezhuchi (wake-up festival), Vinayaka Chaturthi, Navarathri, Sankatahara Chaturthi, Pongal and Deepavali. Special pujas and ritual for Lord Muruga is also conducted in this temple. On Poosam Star day in Thai month (January-February) a special homams is performed according to the ancient Hindu religious tradition and culture. Shahti pujas on Purnima days are conducted on the request of the devotees.

The temple’s specialty is that Lord Vinayaka is facing the north east direction known as Eesanya with the Modhagam (a sweet pudding) on the left hand and one broken tusk on the right hand. The Lord is blessed by Mother-Shakti is on the seat of Lord Shiva. On the other hand, Navagrahas (9 planets) with their consorts graces the devotees. The temple is open from early morning to late dusk. A devotee who is undergoing the mahadasa (main-period) and antardardasa (sub-period) of Moon, jupiter and Sun can take all type of benefits through carrying out this Purinma puja in this temple along with his or her family members.
