Sri Krupapureeswarar Temple in Tiruvennai Nallur

Sri Krupapureeswarar temple is located in the city of Tiruvennai Nallur, in the district of Viluppuram, in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is about 1000-2000 years old.

The presiding deity is Krupapureeswarar and the mother Goddesses are Mangalambikai and Verkanni Amman.

The holy tree in the temple premises is Bamboo and the holy water is Pennai River, Arul Thurai, Dandu, Neeli, Sivaganga, Kama, (Sivnarkeni), Vaikunda, Pandava and Veda theerthams. This place is mentioned as Tiruvarul Thurai in the holy religious texts and literatures related to Hindusim.

The singers associated with this temple is Saint Sundarar who with great devotion and dedication uttered the initial song on Lord addressing him with the initail word granted by Lord Himself – Pitha-Mad Man, promising that he would immediately be for Him alone in the world. In Thevaram hymns, this is the 14th Shiva temple in Nadunaadu region praised on the bank of the river Cauvery.

The important festivals celebrated in this temple are all Amavasy and Purnima days, Skanda Sashti in October-November, Aadi Swathi star day in July-August, Arudra darshan-Margazhi Tiruvadhirai in December-January; 10 day Panguni Uthiram with flag hoisting and float festival in March-April and avani Puttu-pudding festival in August-September.

On these particular days, devotees take a dip or bath in the temple tank in order to directly eliminate all types of negative forces and better yield different kinds of positive results in personal and professional life.
