Significance of Amavasya

In order to start each and every religious work, the day of Amavasya is wholeheartedly considered as the sacred day. For the peace of ancestors, Amavasya day is spend in fasting and worshipping gods and goddesses in particularly.

According to the local legends and Hindu religious scholars strongly believe that for the peace and salvation of their ancestors should observe fast and worship on the day of Amavasya that falls on every month. They also say that for the ancestor’s liberation can be done on lunar and solar eclipse days plus Manwadi Tithi and Sankrantikal Vyatipata.

According to the types of Amavasya written in the Holy Hindu religious texts, Somvati Amavasya is an Amavasya that falls on Monday. Bhumwati Amavasya is an Amavasya that falls on Tuesday. Shaneshwari Amavasya is an Amavasya that falls on Saturday. Other Amasvaya that falls on other days also have its own significance and is observed as Vrat –Upvas. According to the the Vishnu Purana, if an individual observes fasting with full dedication and devotion then Indra, Bhrama, Rudra, Sun, Ashwani Kumar, Fire and Rishi gets fully pleased to get their blessings.

According to the Hindu religious scholars and pundits, ancestors should be rightly pleased before Gods and Goddesses as written in the holy Hindu Religious text with rituals and prayers. An individual who have Pitra Dosh in their given Kundali, presence of Rahu neech, in the ninth house or yog of having no child should perfectly observe this particular fasting. If an individual performs these acts then the desired motives will turn true with the blessing of Gods and Goddesses.
