Shri Janaki Narayana Perumal Temple, Solavandan in Madurai

Shri Janaki Narayana Perumal Temple is located on the banks of Vaigai River, in Solavandan, in the district of Madurai in the state of Tamil Nadu. The presiding deity of this temple is Narayanan and his consorts are Sridevi and Boodevi plus Mother Goddess is Janakaivalli.

The ritual procedure of this temple is known as Pancharathra Agama. There is a special shrine for Andal and Anjaneyar. The Hindu tradition followed in this temple is known as Thenkalai. The scriptural name of this place was known as Janakaiampathy and its fertile land is known as Janakayambathi.

Devotees visit this temple wholeheartedly with devotion and dedication for solutions in marriage matters and for the boon of getting children. In order to develop farming activities, farmer visit this temple for the blessing of the Lord. Devotees make special pujas and prayers for business growth, family welfare, education and prosperity. The devotees also put forward their wishes and desires in order to get it fulfilled by the blessing of the Lord.

According to the local legends, King Janaka performed penance by seeking Sri Rama for his son-in-law at this place. The temple is said to be existing from ancient days.

The sculptural skill of Tamilnadu is testimonial by the Sri Rama’s idol in this temple. There is also shrine for Anjaneya in this temple. It is to be noted that special pujas and rituals are conducted on the days of Purnima and Amavasya in this temple with great devotion and dedication for the devotees who visit from far and near places.
