In Tilak Nagar, Chembur, Mumbai suburb, in 1977, a small-time sports club started a Sarvajanik Ganesh utsav in the name of Sahyadri Krida Mandal. In 1980, a nearby municipality ground was selected by the organizing committee and decided to shift the utsav to this spot.
Among the Ganesh pandal’s of Mumbai suburb, Sahyadri Krida Mandal is much popular for its creative decorative sets. It is to be noted that popular art directors such as Roderick D’souza, Sudhakar Manjarekar, and many others from different corners of India has got the great opportunity to decorated the Ganesh pandal over the years.
For all devotees, Sahyadri Krida Mandal’s organizing committee has made facilities for drinking water and Prasad. The exact location of Sahyadri Krida Mandal is Tilak Nagar, Chembur, Mumbai suburb, Maharashtra. It is just walking distance from the Tilak Nagar main road.
The nearest railway station is Tilak Nagar stations. The waiting time of the devotees to reach pandal through a queue may take 20 minutes, or a few hours more in the allotted general line. Through the general line, devotees can reach the pandal by an hour hours or more.
The Sahyadri Krida Mandal is open around the clock. It is to be highly noted that the busiest time at this pandal is in the early evening until late midnight that is from 3 p.m until 2 a.m. The proud secretary of Sahyadri Krida Mandal says, “No pick-pocketing cases have ever been encountered for past 33 years.” There are 10 CCTV cameras and well trained volunteers in this Ganesh pandal.
