Mauni Amavasya Vrat

Magh masa’s Amavasya is known as the Mauni Amavasya according to Hindu religious texts and inscriptions. On this day, because of the transit, the Sun and the Moon enter and the Capricorn sign is formed in the sky.

As the birthday of Manu Rishi, Hindus celebrate this day with festivity and joy.

According to the Hindu religious scholars and pundits, it is strongly believed that it was Lord Brahma who gave origination to the popular Maharaja named Manu and his beloved queen named Shatrupa. Therefore this particular day is largely considered as the new beginning of the universe creation. The increase in power and the significance of this particular Amavasya happens because of the Capricorn sign that has been formed by the Yoga of the Sun and the Moon in the sky.

It is largely believed by Hindus that having a dip in the sangam of Allahabad in the state of Uttar Pradesh will give virtues to a person on this particular day. It is better to keep or observe Muan Vrat on this particular day. Maun Vart means keeping silent and not talking for the whole day. It gives full control to the mind of the observer of Maun Vrat. There isn’t any strict rules and regulation prescribed for Maun Vrat. It largely depends on the individual regarding how long he wants to observe Maun or silence. There are people who observe Maun vrat for one year, one month or one day or a particular period of time. It is to the best way of getting the wholehearted blessing from the God and Goddesses plus elders and ancestors.
