Kukke Subramanya Temple: Purnima Puja

Sri Kukke Subramanya temple is located in Kukhi Subramanya, in the district of Dakshina kannada, in the state of Karnataka. It is about 1000-2000 years old. The presiding deity of this temple is Kukke Subramanya.

The holy water of this temple is known as Kumaradara. The type of puja conducted in this temple is known as Vaikanasam. The singer associated with this temple is Lord Kukhi Subramanya.

The important festivals conducted in this temple are Navarathri in September-October, Maha Shivrathri in February-March, Tirukarthikai in November-December, Skanda Sashti in October-November, Panguni Uthiram in March-April, Thai Poosam in January-February, purnima and Amavasya days and Vaikasi Visakam in May-June.

Devotes from far and near places visits daily for worshiping at this temple with great devotion and dedication towards the Lord. The temple’s specialty is Lord Muruga graces as swayambumurthy with a five headed serpent above His head. This temple is kept open continuously from early morning to evening without a break for Lord’s Darshan for the devotees. This temple attracts devotees, local and foreign tourists.

It is to be noted that in this temple pujas are performed by Kerala Tantriks. On the other hand, other pujas and rituals are conducted by the priests of the temple. It is to be remembered that Midday (uchikala) puja, the Sayaraksha (evening) and Gopuja (cow worship) are conducted with great devotion and dedication.
