Kartik Purnima in Goa Temples

The state of Goa in the western coast of India is known for its Portugal influence for nearly 400 years but it is a land of ancient and medieval Hindu religious temples that has social and religious importance plus survived the hardship caused by the foreign rulers in this region.

Some of the famous and important temples of this state are Vishveshwara temple located in Mapusa, Mangesh temple located in Ponda that is just 23-km From Panaji, Sri Sharvani Devasthan and Mahadev temple located in Advolpale, Shri Mallikarjun Temple in Canacona and Sri Chandreshwar Temple situated on the top of Chandranath Hill.

The other temples of Goa are Rudreshwar Temple located in Harvalem that is just 45 kms from Panaji, Mahadev Temple in Kurdi, Vishveshvara temple in Mapusa, Sri Mahadev Bhumika Temple located in village Sal that is about 5-km from Kasarpal, Sri Sapteshwar Temple in Pernem Taluka, Near Morjim, Sri Saptakoteeswara Temple, 37-km From Panaji and Tambeli Surla – mahadev (near Karnataka border), 69-km off Panaji, in the Sangham Taluk.

In all these temples, special Karthika purnima pujas and rituals are conducted according to the ancient Hindu tradition and culture with much devotion and dedication.

Most of the devotees indulge in Vastra daan, bhandara and anna daan for all those needy people in the locality and poor people in the vicinity of these temples on the grand occasion of the special day that is kartika purnima. Satyanarayana pujas and Laxmi pujas are also conducted in these temples on the request of the devotees in the presence of Head priest.
