Jameshwar Patna Yameshwar Temple, Bhubaneswar

Yameshwar Temple is located near Bharati Math, in Jameshwar Patna, in the district of Bhubaneswar, in the state of Orissa in Eastern India. The primary deity of this temple is Lord Shiva. This particular temple was built during the 13th – 14th century by the Eastern Ganga dynasty.

The important festival of this temple is Jiuntia or Puajiutia festival. The specialty of this temple is that it is dedicated to Shiva being worshiped by Yama. It is a very old temple among the important temples of Bhubaneshwar.

Within a circular yonipitha, the inner Garbhagriha perfectly houses Shivalinga. In Rekha Deula style, the main Vimana is built and in Pidha Deula style, the Jaga mohan is rightly built. As the temple was built with sandstone, it is facing many damaged that is caused by natural calamities.

The Jiuntia or Puajiutia festival is conducted in a grand manner in this temple. This festival is also known as Dwitvahana osha that falls in the month of Ashwin. Kartik Purnima and Shivaratri special pujas and rituals are conducted in a grand manner in this temple for the benefit of the devotees. The day of Sankramana and all Mondays are important in this temple.

A devotee who mainly visit this particular temple during the days of Bharani nakshatra are said to be really free from all types of miseries in personal life and will be able to lead a happy life in future. A large number of devotees from the nook and corner of Orissa visit this temple during the days of Amavasya and Purnima for special homams conducted in this temple in a grand manner.
