Horanadu Annapoorneshwari Temple

Horanadu, a place where nature has bestowed its beauty with scenic views that are just impossible to find anywhere else. People from all round the world come here to Annapoorneshwari Temple to bow down to Goddess. This place is located at around 100 kms south-west of Chikmagalur where it is surrounded by green beauty of huge forests and valleys.

Circled by enthralling and charming surroundings of Western Ghats of Karnataka region, this place has become very famous because of the very old temple of Goddess Annapoorneshwari. The name itself “Annapoorneshwari” means “the one who provide nourishment to all” and so it has been a regular custom to feed all those who come here to worship with three-time meals, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. All round the year, the flow of food here is available with goddess’s outstretched arms.

Here, Goddess has spread its great deity and every single image of hers stands on peetha with four pillars namely: Shanku, Chakra, Sri Chakra and Devi Gayathri in her four hands. Shri Bheemeshwara Joshi is the present Dharmakartaru of Annapoorneshwari temple. Purnima and amavasya days are celebrated in a grand manner in this temple.

There are various other places from where you can reach Horanadu such as Kalasa(7 Kms), . Sringeri(75 Kms), Chikmagalur(100 Kms) and city hub called Bangalore which is 330 kms. From Bangalore, you may also take route via Nelamangala, Kunigal, Hassan, Belur, Mudigere, Kottigehara, Kalasa and reach Hornadu.

Airways can be reached from Magalore city and Shimonga is nearest railway station, from where hundreds of tourists every year come and visit Horanadu.

Boarding and lodging facility is provided by temple truest itself and the devotees can come and stay longer. All other resting and luggage keeping facility are available at quite affordable rates.
