Hindu Calender’s Important dates for the Calender month of January 2014

January is an auspicious month in Hindu calender. It has a ritual festival Pongal or Sankranthi.
Pongal or Sankranthi occurs on 14’th of January 2014, Bhouma vasare (Tuesday), Pushya masamu, Shukla Paksha, Chaturdasi.

In India Sankranthi is celebrated as the festival of Kites (Patang). Children fly kites and have fun, while the ladies arranges a doll park (Bommala Koluvu) at home.
